Bigamy is a criminal offense, meaning that if a bigamist is sued it will be by the state. But let's say the "second spouse" (or first one) wanted to sue the person in civil court.
Could they? What would they sue the bigamist under? (my - very limited and probably wrong - understanding is that you can't sue for a criminal offense in civil court, right?)
Ideally I'd like an answer citing at least some actual cases, though not required.
Jurisdiction: anywhere in usa; but if there's a major difference between states let's go super stereotypical and call it Utah; though I'm happy with an answer for any state.
