Nov 27, 2021 at 13:54 comment added gatorback Based on the verdict, I clearly had the wrong expectation that a WI judge and jury would not take kindly to "FIBS" teenagers mall-copping and shooting anyone.

Feb 3, 2021 at 23:40 comment added gnasher729 Sorry that should be "fear of imminent death or great bodily harm". Quote: Great bodily harm is the most serious level of harm. It is defined as “bodily injury which creates a high probability of death, or which causes permanent disfigurement, or which causes a permanent or protracted loss or impairment of the function of any bodily member or organ or other serious bodily harm."
Feb 3, 2021 at 22:15 comment added gnasher729 MaxB, according to other answers and comments he would have to be in reasonable fear of being killed or badly injured. The fear of getting beaten up could be reasonable, but most people know when to stop, so it's hard to argue that he had a reasonable fear of being killed or badly injured.

Aug 31, 2020 at 7:56 comment added gatorback @MaxB IANAL nor a judge, so I only have questions. I am biased: I believe in the right to self-defense. That being said, there are limits and precedence regarding self-defense. The "atmospherics" is that I would expect that a WI judge and jury would not take kindly to "FIBS" teenagers mall-copping and shooting anyone. I suspect that WI citizens are carefully watching this case for this reason.
Aug 31, 2020 at 7:39 comment added MWB @gatorback Is crossing state lines illegal for minors? He didn't shoot people for doing property damage. He shot them when he couldn't escape after they attacked him.
Aug 31, 2020 at 7:04 comment added gatorback @MaxB There may be a broader question: Does the context (circumstances) nullify the Rittenhouse self-defense claim? Given suspect's statements indicating intent to defend property and not being a resident: When did it become OK for a minor to cross state lines to perform law enforcement, which would lead to the inevitable?
