According to studentaid.gov (https://studentaid.gov/help-center/answers/article/fafsa-simplification-act) starting in 2024, "the new need analysis formula removes the number of family members in college from the calculation". Where can I find which bill introduced to congress and voted into law contains this change? And the bonus question is: what are the recommended methods to use to answer this question in general?

As far as I can tell:

  1. S.2667 - FAFSA Simplification Act of 2019, actually contains the opposite of the above change.
  2. The technical correction, S.1440 - FAFSA Simplification Technical Corrections Act, does not contain it.
  3. Also, I don't see the text in Division R of the Consolidated Appropriations Act,2022 (P.L. 117-103).

It is very possible I missed something obvious, so I apologize if this is a simple question.

I got this far by following the links from the studentaid.gov web page and googling for any bill/law that was mentioned.
