Is it legal for a company to update someone's credit file after six years since the account closed?

I know that "The Limitation Act 1980" has restriction on many areas, but I couldn't fine any specific restriction how long any creditor can update someone's credit file. Is there any restriction available either from "The Limitation Act 1980" or "Consumer Credit Act 2006"?
