Could voting ever be a crime? (United States)

For example, suppose someone did a write in vote for Osama bin Laden for president, or voted yes on a measure that creates a public task force whose purpose is to murder some person.

I know the measure is unconstitutional and Osama can’t be president - but, assuming you are eligible to vote and you are rightfully using your own identity, is it theoretically possible that casting a vote could constitute a criminal act?

Anything is "theoretically possible": repeal the Constitution, write a new one that allows the government to outlaw anything, pass a law allowing a person to be convicted of "vote crime" if the prosecutor says that the person committed "vote crime". Is that sufficient, or did you have in mind something that preserves more of current law? – user6726 Feb 9 at 1:39
