Is it possible to file a lien on the work done as part of the contract if the client is unable to pay for it.

For example, if a contractor writes software for a client, and the client makes no payments, can the contractor file a notice under the PPSA (Canada) without a prior sales agreement outlining the work done was collateral.

And is filing a notice under the PPSA with collateral as the contracted work enough to count as a lien?
