This past October I was given an H1B visa.

Since I applied for consular processing, I didn't immediately changed my status from F-1 to H1B.

Now my company is terminating their employees in the next two months because it ran out of funds (is a Bay Area startup). Can I still switch my status to the H1B conceded to me originally for this company employment, or should I start all the process over again?

In the latter, is there any extension contemplated for cases like this? I am in my last months of STEM-OPT Extension and that would mean to me having to abandon my life in the US.
