Can I joke about being sponsored, as long as I say it was a joke a few seconds after? In my YouTube video, I would like to make a joke about being sponsored by the web extension Honey (since everyone is being sponsored by them lately) and then saying a few seconds later that it was all just a joke. However, I'm not entirely sure this is legally allowed. If it is, could I be sued for this? I've heard of people being sued for saying that they are sponsored when they are not, but they didn't say that it was a joke.

  • Whether it's legal or not could depend on the jurisdiction. It might be illegal in your country, in Honey's country, or in some other country where someone watched your video. – phoog May 25 at 4:17
