Is it against the rules of criminal procedure for witnesses to consult with each other for the purpose of coordinating their testimony in court?

I ask because when I read police reports written by multiple patrolmen concerning the same event, often they use the same language and report things in an identical way such that gives the impression that the police are coordinating the testimony in the reports to agree with one another's statements. Is this allowable?
