I want to find the first criminal court trial with DNA evidence in North Dakota, that led to conviction.

I have found the case of Dale Joseph Burke, who was convicted for murder on September 17, 1998 (and DNA evidence was part of the trial). But I haven't found anything stating that this was the first trial with DNA evidence, which later led to conviction. Does anybody know if this was the first case? And if this wasn't the first case, do you know which case was the first?
