http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-36733681 I am bothered majorly by this and so are a lot of people. It has already happened and we can't undo this. Justice needs to be served and besides the racist card that is hanging over here, but how do we help prevent such a scenario with the right steps from both the Officer and the driver. So, officer pulls the car over for a routine stop and asks for ID / Registration etc. If the driver or the co driver (shotgun passenger) have a concealed firearm, What should be the procedure of their physical, verbal interactions? Are they obligated to reveal that they are carrying licensed concealed firearm? Should they do so for transparency? Does that make it worse? Should the driver not reach for their ID, pause and ask the officer if he should reach for the ID or not, especially if it may mean a physical act that could be misconstrued as reaching for the firearm? Even though the victims intentions were to be more honest and clear, I fear in this case that information made the officer anxious & nervous and he just should have been more centered. PS: I ask because when I was first got a DL in the US, I was taught by an elder to open the window, keep hands on the steering wheel if ever pulled over by an officer for even the smallest traffic offense. I may never carry a fire arm but maybe this will help anyone who falls under such a situation.
