@bdb484 Botched investigation. Lawyers + media made this to a racist case, making nearly all blacks to believe he is innocent, and nearly all whites to believe he is guilty. It was not long after the Rodney King case, and politics did not want yet another riot with likely more deaths. In theory, judges/jury are not needed to follow politics, but sometimes they do, beside that they might follow the same rationality.

Europe: police tries to find an adult where they can leave the baby (both legally and safely). It might be even a reason to avoid the arrest of the mother (depending on the seriousness of the case). Youth protection is automatically alarmed as the police see the baby. If nothing else works, the baby can be in the prison with his mother until 1yo, there is a special regime for that.

@user67074 I do not have problem to talk about terrible things. They exist, sometimes we must deal or survive them. But not in lunch time :-)

I am not sure, but I am sure, the most basic connection of a healthy society is that no one can ever die in a curable sickness, even if s/he has not the money to cure. That we could call automatic insurance by being a homo sapiens.

Some flagging of such posts, to make it invisible for people in lunchtime, would be surely useful...

If you can write Phd theses on these topics all, I don't think that you need their money. :-)
